Restoring dignity, building resilience, and creating economic independence for widows and women facing hardship through skills, support, and solidarity.
In many Nigerian communities, widows and vulnerable women face deep social stigma, economic exclusion, and limited access to resources. At Cheriven Empowerment Foundation, we stand with them not just in compassion, but in action.
Our Women & Widow Empowerment programme provides targeted interventions that address both immediate needs and long-term self-sufficiency. We deliver practical vocational training in high-demand trades such as tailoring, fashion design, food processing, beadwork, and soap production equipping participants with marketable skills they can use to generate income from day one.
Beyond technical training, we foster community through cooperative savings groups (e.g., esusu or village savings models), financial literacy workshops, and peer mentorship circles. These networks offer emotional support, collective bargaining power, and a safety net against future shocks.
We also provide starter toolkits sewing machines, raw materials, or micro-grants to help women launch small enterprises immediately after training. Our approach is rooted in respect: we listen to their lived experiences, honor their resilience, and invest in their agency.
Because when a woman thrives, her family thrives and her entire community rises with her.
